We present a quenched calculation of the form factors of the semileptonic weak decay B → πl¯ ν with O(1/mQ) NRQCD heavy quark and Wilson light quark on a 16 3 × 32 lattice at β = 5.8. The rare decay b → ssd̄ is studied in a vector quark model by adding the contributions from exotic vector-like quarks. We find that the contribution from box diagrams amounts to 10 in the branching ratio, while the Z-mediated tree level contribution is negligible.
